124-1 Francis Turbine Exit Stay App.
Category
Planning & Design
Description
An Exit Stay Apparatus (ESA) is to eliminate the central vortex rope in the Francis turbine, increase the energy efficiency for off-peak regimes, and achieve reliable operation and a longer life expectancy for existing and new power plants.
Features & Advantages
- To eliminate the central vortex rope, increase the energy efficiency at off-peak loads, reduce the pressure pulsation/instability, and achieve reliable operation.
- To be incorporated into newly manufactured Francis turbines, or be reretrofitted into existing Francis turbines if draft tube cones are not embedded.
