311-6 Vertical Bulb Turbine
Category
Construction
Description
The Vertical Bulb Turbine applied in relative low head sites has been developed to minimize the required space of unit installation and also shorten the assemble/disassemble period of the unit, compared with horizontal shaft Bulb turbine and vertical shaft Kaplan turbine with spiral casing. The turbine and generator can be disassembled upward lifting by the crane, and laid down on the assembly bay in the house. This procedure may minimize the assemble/disassemble period compared with the horizontal shaft Bulb turbine generator.
Features & Advantages
- The power house civil/structure cost can be minimized due to the less space compared with vertical shaft Kaplan turbine.
- The turbine efficiency is little higher than Kaplan type turbine.
- The overhaul period may be shorter than horizontal shaft Bulb turbine generator. However, maintenance will be more complicated when compared with a vertical shaft Kaplan turbine.
