Facilities for inclusion include the power facilities (dam, power house, waterway, surge tank, penstock and outdoor electrical equipment such as transformers and transmission lines) that belong to hydropower plant owner, and could be damaged by extreme events, such as floods and landslide.
For renewal works, this will include both measures to ensure the soundness of facilities and intangible measures, such as remote and automatic control and upgrades to monitoring and surveillance.
The main activities of the Task will comprise documenting reviewing and analyzing flood damage recovery case histories and evaluating the recovery work effectiveness.
Task 2 Objectives:
Investigate climate change issues that can affect sedimentation management, including issues such as safety, generation and storage
Identify measures to control or remove sedimentation in a sustainable manner
Where damage due to sedimentation occurs, formulate recovery plans for facilities and identify means to prevent similar impacts
The investigation of reservoir sedimentation will range from the upstream source of sediment supply to the most downstream limit of environmental impact.
The investigation will include all feasible measures to control or remove sediments, that take into account; environmental impact, cost effectiveness and available technology
The main activities of the Task will comprise documenting, reviewing and analyzing sedimentation management case histories and evaluating their effectiveness.
